The Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada is committed to providing a high standard of service to clients. Its client base is comprised of lobbyists, the general public and other interested parties. Services consist primarily of providing advice and comprehensive information about the lobbyist registration process and related requirements. This includes responding to inquiries, providing advice on how the Lobbying Act and the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct are applied, directing inquirers to relevant interpretation bulletins and advisory opinions, and addressing other related issues of concern. The Office staff is accessible between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM (Eastern Standard Time), from Monday to Friday, except on designated holidays.

Bilingualism, responsiveness and confidentiality

The Office provides service in both of Canada's official languages. If information on our website or in printed material is unclear, we encourage you to contact us. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our services, please communicate your concerns to us. Information you disclose that is considered confidential will be treated accordingly. At the same time, although we respect the right to privacy, certain information that is provided to the Office may be subject to disclosure under the Access to Information Act, or to an investigation under the Lobbying Act.

Reliable access to our website, free on-line registration and email

The Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada website is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The website provides a reliable, clear and consistent user interface to promote on-line lobbyist registrations and provide information about registrations, as well as related reports and recent announcements. Registrations must be filed electronically and filing is free of charge. The option to file a return on paper is only permitted for persons who have difficulty filing a return in electronic format due to a disability or those who do not have reasonable access to a computer and the Internet. Timeliness, registration and alternative accessibility

We aim to acknowledge telephone calls, emails, faxes or letters and respond to general enquiries within two business days of their receipt. When a more complex issue or question is raised, we will promptly provide you with an estimate of when you may expect a response. After filing a registration, please allow up to three business days for validation and acceptance of the registration in our system.
